Day 4 – Ujamaa – Cooperative Economics – Dec. 29

To build and maintain our own stores, shops and other businesses and to profit from them together.

We’ve made some progress in the past five years in that we can more easily find black-owned businesses and often feel a heightened sense of pride in prioritizing our support of black businesses. Whether it’s your lawyer or your caterer, seek out a black-owned business whenever you can. And if you are not satisfied, give them feedback and a second chance.

It’s a joy to have raised up a few entrepreneurs who both are supported and support a thriving community. All in the very community of Southwest Atlanta in which I raised them! Shout out to my children for living the principle of Cooperative economics. @lifebistroatl, @atl-vegan, @yayasnhb, @bardo.atl and @magic.atl
