My Reflections...

On Critical Consumption

Content is everywhere. We need to consume content with a critical eye to avoid being sucked into madness and to keep your thinking cap on while being mesmerized or entertained or educated. I'm here to help with that.

On the Future

On Facilitation

Facilitation is what I do. Bring people together to build community, make decisions, set long-term goals, shape a shared vision, solve conflicts and get sh*t done. I aim to offer you tips because everybody has to attend some kind of meeting. No need to hate them. Learn to love them with adequate facilitation.

Check out Listening 4 Justice

Listening 4 Justice (L4J) is an excellent complementary resource for any organization, family, or person building their equity advancement muscles and knowledge.

It is an experience that takes place in a diverse community that is part of a growing movement to engage in dialogue aiming toward racial and cultural justice.

Participants are led through this experience by youth and adults.

Dr. Folami told the story of creating L4J as a keynote speaker at the National Afterschool Association Conference!  You can watch her talk below.

Testimonials

Folami is one of my favorite people in the whole wide world. She is thoughtful, genuine and draws from a deep well. She is the drinking gourd.

Laura Miller

Director of Family Engagement, United Way of Greater Atlanta

Thank you first of all for creating a powerful meeting for learning - for and with us - on understanding and uprooting racism. In particular, thank you for taking so much time with our meeting information and distilling your effective past/present/future structure from it. One particularly powerful moment for me was when one Friend commented on other Friends not seeing their white privilege: she is a longtime, beloved member whose voice has not been heard much in this conversation (in part because she rarely zooms), she named a painful dynamic while still I think calling Friends in, and you turned her insight into a query that I am still thinking about (when did I come to understand my own privilege and the corollary how am I using or yielding my power for good). Well, we clearly have more work to do, and your tools and compassion and clear vision are already all so helpful.

Laura Helper

Quaker, Memphis Friends Meeting

Thank you Folami! We were so lucky to have you with us and leading us along!!

Margarethe Laurenzi

Executive Director, Maher Charitable Foundation

You keep me calm and centered. You don't judge me and I never feel anything but support from you. Thank you!

Gaye Smith

Executive Director, Georgia Family Connection Partnership

It was wonderful having you lead us Memphis Friends and friends Sunday morning. Thank you! You are so relaxed, thoughtful, and encouraging — what a gift... Your information and thinking helped me with a tough place I've been squirming around in recently with all our calling out/calling in. Just listening to your voice calms me down... 🙂

I especially relished your exercise of projecting into the future and feeling what it is like to accomplish goals and visions. That helped me understand, not just think.

Ann Walton Sieber

Quaker, Memphis Friends Meeting

Folami Prescott-Adams dreams of reparative justice magnified in myriad ways in her inspirational, creative, and motivating Listening 4 Justice workshop series. Her compassionate presence insures brave spaces for authentic conversation on racism, white supremacist culture, and inclusive community.

Karen Morris

Educator, Quaker, Friend

No shame to your game and I LOVE it! Know that you have made a difference.

Marcell Johnson

Meeting Participant

It would take me 20 of these little notes to express my gratitude for what you've done to help move us as individuals and as an organization. And you do it with warmth and kindness I appreciate that - and you!

Akia Lewis

Project Manager, Georgia Family Connection Partnership

I appreciate your leadership throughout this process. Your energy has made some difficult conversations easier.

Valerie Hutcherson

Evaluation Co-Lead, Georgia Family Connection Partnership

Folami is one of the best people you will ever meet. She knows everyone and everything (not literally, but it feels like it). She is also the queen of collaboration and an equity hero. You will learn so much from her just as I have and still do.

Paul and I just watched your talk and it is so engaging, brilliant, alive, funny, touching. All while delivering a great message.
